A Broken Heart

While we were reading the scriptures one night, Brett asked the children what it meant to have a "broken heart." Caleb and Eli were giving definition like; feeling bad, being humble, following Jesus, etc. Brett talked about it for a minute and then went back to the scriptures to read some more. While he was finding his place, Emily chimed in and gave her definition, "when someone breaks up with you." I replied that it was correct but it was a different kind of broken heart. Brett, finally clued into what was being said and had a good chuckle over Emily's answer.

Silly Goose!

I was driving down the road today when I saw some geese on the side of the road (we have a lot of Canadian Geese around here from March/April until November/December). It reminded me of something that happened this summer. I was driving down the road (same road I saw the geese today - even the same spot) and a gaggle (of geese) flew across the road. There was a car in front of me that was right in their path. Well, shortly after they flew by, the man in front of me pulled over. I was afraid that something serious happened. However, what did happen would have totally freaked me out. As I drove past, the driver of the vehicle in front of me (who had pulled over) was opening his door. His window was rolled down, and as I was slowly driving by, the man was shooing a goose out of his car. It had flown in through the open window. I just laughed and laughed and of course couldn't help saying, "Silly Goose!"

Picture This...

On Saturday Emily was upset with Brett for some reason (I was away at a meeting). When she is angry, she expresses it through pictures. She will go to the kitchen table and start drawing. When I got home she had a stack of mail for me - they were all love notes. Then she showed me the stack she had for dad. I had to ask her about them, and she told me that they were, "Dead Dad" picture, but he thought they were love notes. She said that she drew some and then she wasn't mad at him anymore so she started drawing nice ones.

To the Temple at Twelve

Yesterday I was chatting with Caleb about a priesthood meeting Brett was going to. He talked about one of his friends who just turned 12 and how he was able to go with his dad. Caleb asked if his friend got to go to the temple, and I said yes. Then he thought for a minute and told me that for his twelfth birthday he wanted to go to the temple. His birthday party could be before or after, but as close to his birthday as he could he wanted to go to the temple with Brett and me.

My Very Own Super Hero

O.K. Here it is. My husband is a super hero! I know most of you think that, however, mine really is. Here is a video to prove it.

Busy Brain

Yesterday Claire asked Brett why he was so mean. He told her that he had a lot of busy in his head (he has had two big presentation in the last week, and he has a couple more presentations coming up). Hormel Compleats

A while later Claire told Brett that she had a lot of Busy in her Brain and that why she was yelling.

How Many Feet?

Yesterday morning I got up early to make a salad for a meeting I was going to. When I crawled back into bed to cuddle with Brett, Claire was in my bed. Brett pushed her over a little and in a groggy voice she cried out, "I'm going to fall off." Brett replied, "You will not, you have 3 feet." A confused little voice replied, "I do not, I have two feet." I started to laugh at the homophones they were using. Brett asked what was so funny. I explained that he meant distance or space and Claire was talking about the feet that she uses to walk. Brett asked Claire how many feet she had and she grabbed them and counted, "ONE - TWO." Then she counted her toes. She first counted six on one foot, then she counted four on the same foot, and finally Brett grabbed her toes while she counted and she decided that she had five on each foot.

Tattle Tell Targets

All of the children have had shots this week. The boys went in on Tuesday, and the girls went in today. The nurses told the girls that girls are tougher than boys. Claire asked if she could cry, and the nurses and I told her it was O.K. to cry. Emily went first and was a champ. Then Claire, who has been dreading the shots since Thursday. She cried for a little bit and then stopped.

The boys got the flu mist, and the girls got flu shots (the girls have to go back in 30 days and get a booster - I haven't told them this). The boys did just fine, they got the flu mist and then a hepatitis A shot. The girls got their flu shots and then their boosters for hepatitis A. When they put bandaids on the girls, Emily said that now the boys would know where to hit her. She has since removed the target from her arms.

The Joys of Cleaning

I am really not a fan of cleaning. I have been spending some time at our other house trying to prepare it for renters to move in. I am excited to have people moving in, I'm just not excited about getting it ready. I was over at the house today and I was doing some cleaning around the outside of the house. Brett won a leaf blower at work and I was using it to blow the leaves. I think I about got the hang of how it works. At first I would blow the leaves, and there would be no rhyme or reason to where they ended up. At the end, I was pretty able to contain them (as long as the wind wasn't blowing very hard), and they all ended up in a pile. YAY for me! I do however have a bit of a tingley hand. I hope it will go away soon. Anyhow, it is better than having blisters from raking.

It's About Time...

WOW! It has taken quite some time to set this up. I'm not sure that I am totally satisfied with the layout yet. We'll have to see. I have been playing way too much on the computer. I don't think Brett will like it. He didn't really like what I had done with it last night, and now I added a picture of his new glasses. Such is life.
